Appearance and Features
JBL Xtreme is actually a bigger version of Flip 3. A splash-proof fabric wrapped over the body plays the protective function of Xtreme. Two metal hooks on either end of the speaker will help to attach the shoulder strap and get the instant portable party power.
Both the JBL Charge 3 and JBL Flip 4 look pretty nice though the Charge 3 is quite a bit larger than the Flip 4. Six different colors are available with JBL Charge 3. A playback control button, including a power button, volume buttons, and play/pause button can be found at the top of Charge 3. It is designed to keep horizontally and you can see battery status lights at the bottom of the device.

Sound Quality
A slight stutter that occurs at the very beginning of a song in JBL Xtreme may feel a little annoying to some users. But it lasts about a second. Besides that, Xtreme works pretty damn good. The JBL Connect button enables you to connect and sync multiple JBL speakers together. The passive external radiators on either end do a wonderful job with maintaining the low end tight.
Both Charge 3 and Flip 4 sound great but are not the same way. The two of them are one-directional speakers. Charge 3 is bigger than Flip 4, hence the sound output will be powerful and louder. Charge 3 offers a better bass response. The well-tuned midrange is what Charge 3 gives you.
For the smaller size of JBL Flip 4, it produces pretty much good sound. They offer pumping bass response, with a slightly laid-back mid-range and a pretty good high-end response too. The audio is not distorted which is good.
